The Challenge

A 180-person professional services firm in Dubai needed to migrate from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 to align with their enterprise client's procurement requirements and enable Entra ID single sign-on across their project management stack. The migration had to complete within a single financial quarter without disrupting ongoing client engagements.

Our Approach

  1. Pre-Migration Environment Audit

We audited all 180 user accounts, 12 shared drives, 3 service accounts, and 47 third-party OAuth integrations before writing a single line of migration config. This surfaced two data residency complications and a legacy mailing list dependency that would have caused issues mid-migration.

  2. Phased Migration Runbook

We designed a 4-wave migration plan aligned to the firm's department structure, with a pilot wave of 15 IT staff and department heads before the main migration. Each wave had defined rollback procedures and a 24-hour parallel mail flow window.

  3. DNS & MX Cutover Coordination

MX record cutover was scheduled for a Friday at 22:00 Dubai time, with dual delivery maintained for 24 hours and real-time monitoring of both environments throughout the weekend.

  4. Entra ID & SSO Configuration

Post-migration, we configured Entra ID with conditional access policies, MFA enforcement, and SAML integrations for the firm's project management and time-tracking platforms.
